Everyone knows, that CrossFit is effective. The high intensity workouts can be performed by anyone from weekend warriors to stay-at-home mums, casual exercisers to high level sports people. In fact, the majority of people who train with us are regular people who just want to get fit and love working with groups of other like-minded people.
However there is the idea that to do CrossFit you must be fit already! That you need to train before you come in. This couldn’t be further from the truth and in fact, you can be running, squatting and slamming bars with the rest of us within a few weeks.
So we have found the top 5 reasons you should dive straight in, and start getting the results you want!
THE WORKOUTS ARE ADJUSTED TO YOUR ABILITY
This really means, that you can go at your own pace. Nobody expects you to run at a certain speed, lift a certain weight or basically do anything others are doing. Instead, we encourage you to work as hard as you feel you can. You have nothing to prove in your sessions, but to just improve yourself. Even the more difficult movements can be adapted to suit you and give you a great workout.
YOU LEARN THE BASICS BEFORE YOU JUMP IN CLASSES
Every beginner to CrossFit Border starts with at least 3 introductory classes as part of our Elements Program. This 3 day course teaches you the fundamental movements we use and gradually introduces you to the workouts we do. The classes are for beginners ONLY and are fully coached by one of our professional coaches.
EVERYONE ELSE WILL HELP YOU
One of the coolest things about our training is the community, and the support everyone gives each other. NOBODY judges you by what you do here. Instead they encourage you to be better than yesterday and they help you out when you aren’t sure. They all started exactly where you are now – so they know exactly what you are feeling.
WE WORK ON SKILLS REGULARLY
One of our key concepts to being fit is to learn new skills and develop them. Every class we work on improving them, so whilst that pull-up might seem out of reach now, we can scale the movement and work on progressions so you can get it for the first time. Coaches will work on drills and skills as a class making movements you already have even better. We call this virtuosity – we want you to not just do the movements, we want you to always get better at them.
YOU GET TIME WITH YOUR COACH
We never allow more than 10 people into a class. We prefer giving each person more of our attention, keeping these classes small means you get more coaching and you learn faster and feel more comfortable knowing that we have your back.
We tell every beginner the same thing: take your time to learn how things work, enjoy the process of learning. The rest will take care of itself.
You don’t need to be fit, young, experienced or a 20 year old extrovert to start CrossFit. You just need to turn up, and give what you have to give.
